Each year between Christmas and New Year’s Day I post about the books I have read in the previous year and the books I am anticipating reading in the next year. Usually I try to make this a week long event with 5-7 posts but this year due to my schedule and the way Christmas fell I am only doing three, this one, a recap of 2024, and my anticipated reads of 2025.
Each year I attempt to read books that are connected to the Bible but I never post about the book(s) of the Bible that I intend to study in depth. Many years I do not necessarily know which books are going to make my study list as the year begins and some years (like 2024) I am going over books I have done previous study on. This year though I am going into more depth on books I have never done before, 1 & 2 Timothy and Titus. Now before anyone jumps on me as if I have never physically read these books, what I mean is a deeper dive. I intend to read these books in Greek so that I can learn why translators made the decisions they did and help myself come to what I think might be the clearest translation. I will be using Philip Towner’s The Letters to Timothy and Titus as my primary guide through these books Though I will supplement this with I Howard Marshall’s The Pastoral Epistles and a couple other commentaries as needed.
I would love to hear from you what book(s) of the Bible you are studying in 2025 and how you plan to do so. I would also love to have people join me in my study of Timothy and Titus, if you are interested in reading these books with me please let me know.
