This post IS NOT about the statue of Mr Trump recently erected.
However I want people to notice this meme it represents a current trend in Christian Nationalist circles. The author explicitly cites a passage for 1 Samuel about Israel falling into idolatry (1 Samuel 8) and labels the people falling down before the statue as “Judaeo-Christians”. The idea behind this comes from antisemitism that associates what Christian Nationalists view as wrong in Christianity with Judaism. Proponents of this line of thinking disparage Judaism completely and often espouse common conspiracies that Jews run the world. Some of them are even going so far as to say, “Jesus was an Israelite not a Jew”.
Overall, these memes are less about the support or rejection of President Trump than they are about rejecting the seeming alliance President Trump has with Israel. Christian Nationalists are angry that Mr. Trump seems to have abandoned the America First platform of removing immigrants in favor of an alliance with those who (in their eyes) need to be removed from America, Jews.
Had this meme been about the statue of Mr. Trump they would not have used the label Judaeo-Christians for those bowing down. Instead the author clearly wants to represent the idea that Christians who continue to support the administration have compromised with Judaism and thus are falling into idolatry.
